The Internet of things is a $14 trillion industry as per the predictions. All out home appliances, vehicles, devices and others things will be connected in the future. This will enable us to manage and control these connected devices from a Smartphone. But one server might be connected with 1000’s of IoT (Internet of Things) devices which will be controllable by the hackers once they got access to the server. So Cisco is the leading contributor in the IoT arena. Cisco recently announced security challenges to improve the security of this future industry.
The Security challenge offers up to US$300,000 in prize money, with awards from US$50,000 to US$75,000 for up to six recipients. Winning solutions will be announced and showcased on the Internet of Things World Forum this fall.
A Cisco team of security experts will evaluate proposals based on the following criteria:
- Feasibility, Scalability, Performance, and Ease-of-use
- Applicability to address multiple IoT verticals (manufacturing, mass transportation, healthcare, oil and gas, smart grid, etc.)
- Technical maturity/viability of the proposed approach
- Proposers’ expertise and ability to feasibly create a successful outcome.
